At the traffic light near DD in New Hartford turn south on Rt. 219, then left oon Steele Rd. (with "hiking" sign). Continue for about a mmile to a parkingg area on the left. Head onto the trail past the map kiosk on the red trail. Soon there will also be white reflective strips on the trees. Follow those. Look right for a large moss-covered boulder. Behind the boulder and a bit right is a tree. Look behind that tree for #1.
With all boxes, please double bag the log book and cover the box as well or better than found.

Follow red/white as it bares right. The trail begins to climb. Note the depression (foundation?) hole on right as the trail turns left. Pass through some fairly large cut logs and come to a small clearing on the left. Go off trail into the clearing and notice the twin sister tree ahead right. It is actually a 3-sister. Check behind that tree for #2.

Back to trail and continue on still climbing.Nearing the top there is a trail sign pointing back to Steele Rd. Come to a T. From the intersection at the T take a few steps left and look left to a downed tree with exposed root end off trail. Go there and examine that root end for #3.

Return to the trail that is now the carriage road and continue on.
After awhile look for a tall leaning birch tree with a long slit down its trunk. Behind that tree is a short stump. Examine there for #4.

Cross the bridge. Road goes slightly downhill. Pass a trail coming in from the left. Look for a tree on the left with a rectangular red blaze. There is also a similar blaze on the opposite side of the tree. A few paces ahead on the left, you should see a large moss-covered downed tree. Check the downed tree for #5 about midway under it.

Continue to a T intersection with a trail sign. Follow the loop trail (sharp right). Look right for a triangular-shaped rock, not too big and close to the trail. Across the trail is a twin sister with a branch leaning between them. Examine the triangular rock for #6.

Continue downhill. Look for a large downed tree on the left. There is a tall large snag at the end near the trail. If there are chips all around the base of the snag from woodpeckers word, continue on until you find another large snag at the end of a downed tree, (on the left). Look behind the snag and under the downed log for #7, under bark.

Continue on passing the outlook with a nice bench. Go straight at the intersection. Cross a little brooklet and a stone bridge. Come to a roadblock and turn left up the stone steps. Notice the birch logs scattered around. Turn right. Do not follow the white reflective blazes. On the left look for a line of large rocks extending in a line uphill. Examine the back or side of the 2nd rock from the trail. #8.

Continue, following instructions about avoiding private property. Pass a small pond and a shell of an old building. Soon beyond the building, soon after the sign indicating the continuing trail, look right for a snag that looks like a slingshot (no rubber band). Look on the uphill side of the snag under bark for #9.

At a cairn, go to the right. Come to an area of scattered rocks of all sizes. Standing by the twin trees on the right, look directly left to a large rock. Go to the right side of the rock and see two flat rocks aligned at a right angle. Number 10 should be in the inner right angle.

Continue on trail back to your starting place.
